Wang Guiqiang, director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Peking University First Hospital, told a news conference on Tuesday that people who have had Covid-19 before should not be overly concerned about reinfection, because the second time around, cases show almost no symptoms, in some cases no more than a cough and are also less contagious than people think.

So far, there has been no increase in the reinfection rate with Omicron, he said.

Wang Huaqing, chief expert at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told the conference that at present, immunity resulting from infection is not as strong as the combined effects of infection and vaccination, recommending that those who get infected get vaccinated six months afterward.
