UK warned about food supply crisis

The National Farmers Union, or NFU, has warned that the United Kingdom is "sleepwalking" into a food supply crisis, and urged the government to step in to help farmers.

Yields of tomatoes and some other crops will likely slump to record lows this year, it said, citing the current rationing of eggs in some UK supermarkets as an example of supply problems.

However, there is not a single reason for the shortages but an array of contributing factors.
