Lawmakers in France are expected to vote on a possible bullfighting ban on Thursday.
Previous attempts to introduce a ban have repeatedly failed to come before Parliament.
Anti-bullfighting supporters argue Spanish-style bullfighting is not an old tradition in France, having been introduced in 1853 to please Emperor Napoleon III's Spanish wife.
