Tutor gets five-year sentence, lifetime ban for child molestation
A male tutor convicted of child molestation was sentenced on Monday to five years in prison and is prohibited from ever working in close contact with minors again, Chengdu.cn reported.
It was the first criminal case in Chengdu, Sichuan province, in which such a ban was handed down since the Nov 15 release of a guideline jointly issued by the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Education aimed at workers in the educational sector who commit violent crimes against children, including sexual assault, abuse, abduction and trafficking.
According to the Qingyang District Court in Chengdu, the man repeatedly molested a 10-year-old girl while tutoring her one-on-one from December 2021 to May 2022.
The court said the man took advantage of his occupation commit the crime of molesting a child under the age of 12.
