CHENGDU -- More than 300,000 fry of rare fish were released in the Jinsha River, at the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, earlier this week, said a branch of the Three Gorges Group.
The release was the second of its kind this year to boost the fish stock. The Wudongde construction branch of Three Gorges Group released 750,000 rare fish fry on June 1.
The fry released this time includes rock carp, schizothorax chongi, rhinogobio ventralis, and coreius guichenoti. The first two are rare species released in the river for the first time.
Since 2015, the Three Gorges Group has organized the breeding and releasing of rare fish to conserve fish species indigenous to the Jinsha River.
