Hon Hai Technology Group, also known as Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer and a key supplier of Apple Inc, said its plants in Zhengzhou, capital of Central China's Henan province, will try to resume normal production as soon as possible.

For Hon Hai, epidemic prevention is a multi-faceted effort that must integrate policy, medicine, health, and production, chairman and CEO Young Liu said during a conference after releasing the company's third quarter financial results.

He noted safeguarding the health of employees and maintaining safe production has always been the biggest challenge for management.

Liu said the company is continuously adjusting its practices in compliance with local government regulations, and after undergoing these adjustments the overall situation is gradually getting on track. "The Henan provincial government has also made it clear it will fully support Hon Hai and stamp out the epidemic as quickly as possible."

The COVID-hit Foxconn plant in Zhengzhou has been under the spotlight after an outbreak of COVID-19 prompted many workers to leave and return to their hometowns since late October.

Zhengzhou is one of Foxconn's main production bases, where the company produces about half of the iPhones in the world. It has more than 90 production lines and over 300,000 workers.
