In Henan, university corrects COVID 'mistake'

Epidemic prevention and control measures will be observed at Huanghe Science and Technology University in Zhengzhou, Henan province, as the school provides support services for infected students, officials said on Wednesday.
"Some students at the university have been infected with COVID-19," said Dong Yumin, a provincial education department official. "Currently, the south campus of the university has been put under static management, and staff members will send meals to every student."
On Tuesday, some students reportedly left the campus abruptly when they learned that active cases had been found. Some students were allowed to seek medical treatment off campus as the staff members failed to grasp the epidemic situation accurately.
"We have clearly explained to the students the situation at the university and the staff members' mistake," Dong said, adding that the students who left have returned to the campus.
"We will strictly implement epidemic control and prevention measures," he said, adding that students who test positive will be transported to designated sites for medical treatment and their close contacts will be quarantined.
In addition, he said, staff members will inspect the campus to prevent any careless omissions and carry out comprehensive disinfection.
