7 detained after confrontation with residents

Seven epidemic prevention workers in the Lanshan district of Linyi, Shandong province, have been administratively detained because of their confrontation with residents in a community, a notice from the district police branch said on Tuesday.

The seven people from a community in the district are accused of dragging and beating the residents at about 4 pm on Monday. Details about the confrontation were not included in the notice.

In the notice, the police said that public security organs will crack down on illegal and criminal behaviors that infringe upon citizens' safety and other rights and interests and will spare no effort to maintain social harmony and stability.
