Abbott has brought an array of healthcare solutions to the ongoing fifth China International Import Expo, several of which will make their Chinese or Asian debut.

The US-based healthcare company has set up a 550-square-meter booth in the medical equipment and health care products area of the CIIE to showcase its innovations in diagnostics, medical devices, nutrition products, and pharmaceuticals under the theme "human-powered technology, shaping the future of health". The booth also features personalized and connected healthcare solutions that cover all stages of life.

Among the exhibits is the Aveir single chamber pacing system, the world's only leadless pacemaker with a unique mapping capability to assess correct positioning prior to placement. This product is making its debut in Asia at the CIIE.

Also on display is a patent ductus arteriosus occluder, a tiny device designed to fix a congenital heart defect in premature babies.

The company has also brought a host of newly developed nutrition products, including one developed and produced in China for the maintenance of muscle mass in people older than 50 years, and an OTC oral contraceptive pill.

Since Abbott's first participation at the second CIIE, many of its healthcare solutions, such as the total laboratory automation solution and its FreeStyle Libre series that offer more personalized and intelligent diabetes management, have become more accessible in China thanks to the spillover effect of the CIIE, the company said.

"We greatly value this important platform for communications and exchanges. More people in China will get to know the lifechanging health tech that we have to offer thanks to the great exposure at the CIIE," said Fanny Chen, vice president of Abbott Core Diagnostics.

"Abbott's 2030 sustainable plan is to focus on designing access and affordability into innovation so that our products can reach more people in more places than ever before."
