Typhoon Nalgae makes landfall in Guangdong's Zhuhai

Typhoon Nalgae made landfall in Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai, Guangdong province, at about 4:50 am on Thursday, becoming the first typhoon to land in the city in November since 1961 when meteorological record started.
Affected by both Nalgae and a weak cold air, light to moderate rain fell in Zhuhai from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, with gales blowing off the city's coast, according to the city's meteorological bureau.
Nalgae moved northwestward and weakened after the landfall. It becomes the first typhoon to make landfall in the country in November since 2003. The typhoon brought heavy rains to parts of provinces of Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan on Wednesday, according to the national observatory.
Kindergartens, primary and middle schools in Zhuhai will remain suspended on Thursday morning.
