The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China marked the start of the next stage of China's journey to rejuvenation as it embarks on the road to high-quality development and modernization.

In the report he delivered to the congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that pursuing a path of peaceful development is a choice made by the CPC and the Chinese people. Stating that the central task of the Party will be to lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in concerted efforts to realize the country's modernization, Xi said that China will not tread the path of war, colonization and plunder taken by some countries.

As the core of the Party and its leadership, Xi has made a sound appraisal of the evolving socioeconomic dynamics of the world. Thus, he has proposed initiatives to promote shared development and common security, and promoted broader alignments and cooperation to achieve future aspirations.

A visionary statesman, Xi has been the architect of policy strategies and plans that can potentially cater to global needs and progress. China is currently in its best period of development in modern times, while the world is undergoing immense changes. These two realities are intertwined and mutually influential.

There are many favorable external conditions for China to successfully carry out its diplomatic work, both at present and in the period ahead, in pursuit of realizing the vision of building a community with a shared future.

The concept of shared future reflects the truth that all countries are interdependent and the whole of humanity shares the same future. It reflects the common values of humanity and finds the greatest common ground to build a better world.

The 20th CPC National Congress has reaffirmed that China will continue to promote mutual understanding among peoples and respect for the diversity of civilizations. Advocating cultural exchanges over estrangement and mutual learning over conflict, China has proposed that countries with different social systems, ideologies, historical civilizations and development levels target the same goals, align their interests and share their rights and responsibilities, so as to promote the overall development of human society.

The congress reinforced that China is endeavoring to develop an advanced socialist culture and carry forward its fine traditional culture into the future. Among the efforts to ensure that China is a country with a strong socialist culture, the nation will endeavour to foster a new generation of young people who represent the socialist culture for a nation that embraces modernization, the world and the future.

The process of globalization has made the world a global village. Yet countries must still pursue their own unique paths to attain common development aspirations. In this aspect, China has become a global leader in fostering joint development and cooperation in diverse areas. As a result of China's opening-up and robust reform policies, the world has been witnessing the progress of a great public good in the form of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Undoubtedly, the BRI has transformed the fortunes of countries of the Global South. For example, China's development cooperation in Africa and other parts of the world has astonishingly uplifted the economies of many countries.

The BRI, along with many other Chinese initiatives aimed at promoting global development, has paved the way for developing countries to keep pace with the times. Thanks to China and the resolve of its leadership, many projects have been successfully implemented to strengthen cooperation with other developing countries and safeguard the common interests of the developing world.

These realities depict that countries have trust in the Chinese leadership.
