In recent years, due to global warming and monsoons, the Lancang-Mekong River Basin has faced severe droughts. Given the situation, reservoirs in the basin have been playing a significant role in storing flood water in the wet season and discharging more water in the dry season, which has effectively mitigated the droughts.
