Restaurant caught fire, killing 17 and injuring 3

The Ministry of Emergency Management has sent a work team to Changchun, in Jilin province, for guiding the handling of a fire that happened at a local restaurant which killed 17 and injured three, at noon, on Wednesday.

The injured have been sent to a local hospital for treatment, local authorities said.

The fire broke out at Hongyu Xiaoyoubing Baixing Restaurant on Yiju Road in the city's high-tech development zone around 12:40 am, according to the city's official account on Weibo - Changchun Release.

The fire had been put out by 3 pm.

The restaurant's runner was controlled. Further investigation on the fire's cause is underway.
