Amid unprecedented global challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, China will further advance peace and development in the world as guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, senior Chinese officials and renowned scholars said.

They made the comments at a high-end symposium in Beijing on Sunday as they emphasized the need for countries to work together with China on shoring up multilateralism and global unity, and on countering unilateralism and hegemony.

A number of recent turbulent events, changes and unexpected incidents in the world have shown the efficacy and foresight of Xi's main thoughts on the international situation, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the symposium.

Xi bears in mind the future of all mankind, responds to the changes of the times and answers questions that arise in the world, and he has stressed that the world should weather the storm in the same boat through daunting waves and tides toward a bright future, Wang said.

Over the past 10 years, Chinese diplomats have been spreading the global vision of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and flying high the banner of building the community with a shared future for mankind, he noted.

Chinese diplomatic missions "have been calling upon nations to offset division with greater unity, replace confrontation with cooperation and constantly boost the influence and charm of Chinese philosophy and Chinese solutions", Wang said.

Xie Chuntao, vice-president of the Party School of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that the idea of building a community with a shared future for mankind is a Chinese solution proposed by Xi for increasing the wellbeing of people in various countries.

"Not a single country could face up to challenges alone, nor could it step back into isolation," Xie said.

As Xi proposed additional diplomatic approaches, he has borne witness to China's great sense of duty as a major country, "drawing sharp contrast to the unilateralism and hegemony sought by some countries", he added.

From the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative to his ideas on advancing global governance reform, Xi has shown how new ideas are realized in an action-oriented approach, said Sun Yeli, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Xi's insight absorbs the widely recognized basic principles of international relations and epitomizes the largest common grounds across the globe, he said.

"Development is a master key "resolving various problems, and countries cannot achieve peace, security and stability without mutual respect, openness and win-win cooperation, said Lin Shangli, deputy director of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee.

Qian Hongshan, deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said that as inspired by Xi's Thought on Diplomacy, the country and the Party's diplomatic missions are bolstering their foresight and long-term perspective, and the Party's international influence has been on the rise.

Xi's insight calls for respect for countries' efforts in exploring development paths that suit their own national conditions and promotes exchanges and mutual learning of various cultures for common progress, Qian added.
