Flood in Heilongjiang, rescues still underway

One person has been confirmed dead and seven remain missing in Chaoyangshan township in Wudalianchi city, Heilongjiang province, after two mountain torrents caused by heavy rain on Wednesday, according to local government.
The flash floods occurred on Tuesday evening, carrying away five villagers of Dongfeng village and four staff members from a State-owned enterprise who were on their way to a construction site near the township's Daheng Mountain.
One of the staff members was rescued.
Rescue teams including police, firefighters, armed police officers and medical workers have been sent to the sites for rescue work and to help transfer trapped villagers.
As of Wednesday at noon, rescue work is still underway.
