Beijing's latest COVID-19 cluster involving a bar in the city's Chaoyang district has led to a total of 287 infections between midnight Thursday and 3 pm Tuesday and has touched most districts in the city, a senior official said on Tuesday.

Beijing reported 74 new infections on Monday and 30 new infections as of 3 pm on Tuesday according to Liu Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

He said the epidemic outbreak is still developing and the risks of infection and further viral spread still exist.

"The infected people have been to a wide range of places in the city, which has added to the difficulties of epidemic control," Liu said.

All new locally transmitted cases are related to a bar named Heaven Supermarket in Chaoyang district's Sanlitun area.

Of the 287 infected people, 213 had been to the bar. Five are employees of the bar and the remaining 69 are related to confirmed cases.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Beijing had three medium-risk areas for COVID-19.
