Shanghai reported two locally transmitted COVID-19 confirmed cases and an asymptomatic infection out of quarantine and lockdown areas on Sunday, the city government said late Sunday.

Wu Jinglei, director of the Shanghai Health Commission, said that as the city resumed work and production on June 1, the flow of people has increased. Scattered infections in communities have been reported over the past days, which showed that there still exists risk of epidemic rebound, he said.

"We'll stick to dynamic zero-COVID policy and improve our early warning, prediction, and prevention capabilities to minimize the impact of the epidemic on economic and social development," he said.

Monday will be the first working day after the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and many enterprises in the city will fully start production with employees returning to workplace. It will also be the first day that grade 11 and 12 students return to campuses. Experts reminded individuals to maintain good personal protection and hygiene measures.
