Snow cleared in Beijing; storm affects Olympics

Government departments in Beijing assigned thousands of workers to the task of snow removal to ensure road safety and public transportation after a big snowfall on Sunday.
As of Sunday morning, the storm had dropped 7 centimeters of snow in parts of the city, and more was added throughout the day for a season total of as much as 12 cm in some areas.
At Olympic venues, which are at higher altitudes, most outdoor events were suspended temporarily on Sunday because of the heavy snow.
