A 24-year-old woman in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, tested positive for the COVID-19, local health authorities said on Thursday morning.
The woman, who works and lives in the city's Tanzhou township, was confirmed to have an infection after visiting a fever clinic at a local hospital on Wednesday.
Public transportation within Tanzhou and all buses linking the township to other areas in Zhongshan were temporarily suspended following the newly reported case.
Home isolation has been immediately required for residents in the patient's community, according to sources.
Shuttle bus services between Tanzhou and neighboring Zhuhai airport were suspended. Nucleic acid tests were also required for residents in three areas in Zhuhai, including Nanping township and the Qianshan and Fengshan subdistricts.
Additionally, the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong reported one more locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 case and one asymptomatic carrier on Wednesday.
All new cases reported in Shenzhen were part of the same chain of transmission as previously confirmed cases, according to the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission.
