Remarried couples can have three additional children no matter how many children either partner had with the previous spouse, according to a new rule on family planning rolled out by East China's Anhui province.
The new rule, which took effect on Jan 1, also stipulates that a couple who have adopted children lawfully may have three more children, no matter how many children they adopted.
Previously, partners who marry after a divorce could have two children at most in the new marriage.
