Chinese FM Wang Yi to co-chair China-CELAC Forum

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón will co-chair the third Ministerial Meeting of the Forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Thursday.
The meeting, which will be held via video link on Friday, will be the first multilateral diplomatic activity between China and the Latin American and Caribbean states since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, Wang said.
China hopes to plan at the conference with the Latin American and Caribbean states the forum's development and China-Latin America cooperation in the next three years thus further enhance China-Latin America ties, Wang said.
President Xi Jinping attended the China-Latin America and the Caribbean Summit in Brasilia, capital of Brazil, in July 2014. During the summit, the leaders jointly announced the establishment of the China-CELAC Forum.
