Chinese mainland reports 3 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported three new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Sunday.

Of the new local cases, two were reported in Yunnan and one in Liaoning.

Also reported were 20 new imported cases in six provincial-level regions, according to the commission.

Two new suspected cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported in Shanghai, and no new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on Saturday, it added.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland had reached 98,631 by Saturday, including 785 patients still receiving treatment, of whom seven were in severe condition.

A total of 93,210 patients had been discharged from hospitals following recovery on the mainland, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.

A total of 22 asymptomatic cases were newly reported Saturday, of whom 18 were from outside the mainland. There were a total of 449 asymptomatic cases, including 378 arriving from outside the mainland, under medical observation as of Saturday.
