Xi sends encouraging letter to internet conference


President Xi Jinping on Friday sent a congratulatory letter to the 1st China Internet Civilization Conference, which is being held in Beijing, calling for extensively gathering strength for good deeds and making joint efforts to create a better cyberspace.
Xi said in the letter that internet civilization is an important content of social civilization today, and an important field of building China's strength in cyberspace.
In recent years, China has actively promoted the creation of content on the internet, encouraged new and healthy trends, deepened governance over the internet ecology, and achieved notable results in internet civilization, Xi said.
He urged Party committees and governments at all levels to shoulder their responsibilities, and the internet platforms, social organizations and netizens to play a positive role in jointly promoting civilized accessibility of the internet, use of the internet and surfing on the internet, shaping and purifying cyberspace with new trends in the new era, in order to build a beautiful internet spiritual homeland.
The one-day conference, with the theme of "Gather strength for good deeds, jointly build internet civilization", focuses on building a platform for promoting China's internet civilization, exchanging experiences, showcasing achievements and learning from international internet civilizations.
It contains one main forum and seven sub-forums, covering topics such as online content construction, challenges and responses in internet ecological governance, internet rule of law, and internet civilization among young people.
