President calls for stronger China-Africa cooperation
President Xi Jinping has called on China and Africa to jointly uphold the common values of humanity and strengthen unity and cooperation to promote shared development and prosperity.
Xi made the remark on Monday in a congratulatory message delivered to the sixth China-Africa People's Forum held in Beijing.
Xi said that the world today is in times of great development and transformation.
Facing these new opportunities and challenges, China and Africa should be firmer than ever before in upholding and carrying forward peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom, which are the common values of humanity.
Xi expressed his hope that both sides would work together to turn the forum into a platform to bolster China-Africa comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership, and strengthen people-to-people bonds.
The forum should be an example of engaging as the China-Africa community with a shared future to create new prospects for people-to-people friendly exchanges, he added.
The China-Africa People's Forum, jointly organized by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges, the African Union and several African nongovernmental organizations, is a nongovernmental exchange platform that aims to enhance partnerships and promote friendship between China and Africa. The first forum was held in August 2011 in Nairobi, Kenya.
