Over the weekend, a video showing a senior woman saving a drowning man in Southwest China's Chongqing has attracted thousands of likes and comments online.

The incident occurred under the Shuangxing Bridge of the Binan River in the city's Bishan district at around 8 pm on Friday, when a man in white, face down in the river, was drowning. A woman in black was trying to pull him out of the cold water.

The temperature was 9 C. With the woman's help, the man was soon delivered to other rescuers on the bank and was saved.

The rescuer was 65-year-old female local resident Li Xin, who was taking a walk with her friend that night and came across the emergency.

"I just did what I should do," Li said, adding she didn't give it too much thought but just took off her coat and got in the water as soon as she could.
