7 killed, 1 injured in Wuhan stabbing
Seven people were killed in a knife attack on Monday in Wuhan, Hubei province, police in the city's Caidian district said on Tuesday. A young child was also hurt in the attack and was hospitalized.
In the early hours of Monday, the 39-year-old suspect, surnamed Gao, stabbed five people, killing them on the spot, and injured another in Xiaosi town.
According to ThePaper.cn, an online news portal, the five victims were a village's Party secretary, surnamed Zhang, and his family members.
The suspect fled to the urban area of Wuhan's Caidian district at around 4 am on Monday, knocked down and killed a passerby and a driver while robbing his car, ThePaper.cn reported on Tuesday.
At around 6 am, Gao jumped into the waters from the Yangtze River Bridge and escaped.
The police moved quickly to search for the assailant.
