China activates emergency response to North China floods

Photo shows a closed dyke near Qiaodong village of Xinjiang county in Yuncheng, North China's Shanxi province, Oct 8, 2021. A nearly 20-meter-long breach was closed Friday in a section of the Fenhe River, a major tributary of the Yellow River, Shanxi province. The section in Xinjiang county saw the largest flood crest in nearly 40 years due to continuous rainfall and water from the upper reaches. The flooding resulted in a breach at about 5 pm, Thursday near Qiaodong village, according to the county government. [Photo/Xinhua]
