BEIJING - The 16 participating teams for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 qualifying tournaments have been confirmed as the ongoing FIBA Women's Asia Cup in Amman, Jordan entered its semifinals stage.

Australia, China, Japan and South Korea have secured their places in the Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 qualifying tournaments next February after making it to the Asia Cup semifinals.

Nigeria and Mali also earned their spots in the qualifying tournaments by advancing to the FIBA Women's AfroBasket final.

Apart from the four Asian and two African teams, the Women's World Cup 2022 qualifying tournaments will also feature the top four sides from the FIBA Women's AmeriCup and the top six teams from the FIBA Women's EuroBasket, the two events which were staged in June.

The United States, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Canada will represent the Americas, while Serbia, France, Belgium, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Russia will be the European participants.

The Women's World Cup 2022 qualifying tournaments will take place between February 10 and 13, 2022. Each of the four tournaments will feature four teams, and the top three finishers from each tournament will secure their places in the flagship global women's basketball competition.

Australia, the Women's World Cup 2022 host nation, and the United States, the Tokyo Olympics champions, have earned automatic qualification, meaning that the two other best-placed teams will advance for those qualifying tournaments featuring Australia and the USA.

The draw for the Women's World Cup 2022 qualifying tournaments is scheduled for November. The Women's World Cup 2022 will take place in Sydney from September 22 to October 1, 2022.
