In March 2019, police in Jiangsu province cracked down a supply chain involving the illegal hunting, trading, and transportation of national key protected rare and endangered wild animals.
Twelve surviving green sea turtles were rescued in the case and six of them were released in waters off the Dajishan island of East China Sea in October 2020.
The remaining six were unfit for release due to digestive issues at the time and were only deemed suitable for release back into the sea recently.
