One student drowns, five missing in North China river

TAIYUAN - One student drowned, and another five went missing after river water washed them away in North China's Shanxi province, authorities said Thursday.
The accident happened at around 4 pm Wednesday when eight students on holiday were relaxing by the river near the Shundi Dam in the city of Yongji. Six of the students were washed away by the water current. The students were all aged between 15 and 16, according to the local government.
By 9 pm Thursday, rescuers had retrieved the body of one student in a river section more than 30 km downstream. They are still searching for the missing others.
