BEIJING - The General Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has urged all departments and local authorities to earnestly study an important speech delivered Thursday by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, at the ceremony marking the centenary of the CPC.

The speech provides a programmatic document of Marxism, a political proclamation for Party members in the new era, and a guide to action for the Party in uniting and leading the Chinese people to learn from history and create a bright future, according to a circular issued by the office Saturday.

The circular called for efforts to study and implement the speech as a major political task and to guide Party members, officials and the public to grasp the great significance, rich connotation, underlying essence and practical requirements of the speech and align their thoughts and actions with it.

Efforts should be made to deeply understand the historic achievement of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the glorious journey and great feats in the past century that witnessed the Party leading the Chinese people in tireless struggle toward national rejuvenation, the great founding spirit of the Party, the fundamental requirement and call of the CPC Central Committee, the document said.

The study and communication of the speech should also be extended to the primary level and oriented toward the general public, it said.
