China Post to pick up delivery speed in over 1,000 cities


China Post will further pick up its delivery speed among over 1,000 cities in the country, China Post and Express News reported Monday.
The company will provide overnight shipping service in major Chinese cities. Over 60 percent of parcels by EMS are expected to be delivered next morning.
China Post has optimized more than 400 postal routes, and added about 300 new routes, covering over 2,000 counties across China.
In terms of its air transportation, China Post has 33 cargo planes. Taking Nanjing as the hub, its network can reach directly to key domestic cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Guangzhou and Shenzhen and also cover Seoul in South Korea and Osaka in Japan.
The express company also has operated nearly 90 inter-provincial high-speed rail postal routes, covering Sichuan, Jiangxi, Henan, Hunan, Shaanxi and other provinces.
On the world's top 500 companies list by Fortune Magazine, China Post ranked 90th, and won the second spot among global postal companies, following Japan Post.
China's express service sector saw business volume reaching 21.93 billion pieces in the first quarter of 2021, growing 75 percent year-on-year, data from the State Post Bureau showed.
Revenue in the January-March period increased 45.9 percent from a year earlier, hitting 223.77 billion yuan ($36.2 billion).
The bureau estimated that a total of 95.5 billion parcels will be delivered this year, generating revenue of 980 billion yuan.
