Chinese mainland reports 24 new COVID-19 cases, all imported

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland on Thursday reported 24 new COVID-19 cases, all of which were imported, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Friday.

Of them, six each were reported in Shanghai and Guangdong, five in Sichuan, two in Yunnan, and one each in Beijing, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Hunan, and Gansu, according to the commission.

Thursday also saw seven suspected cases newly reported in Shanghai. All of them are imported cases.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Thursday across the mainland, it added.

A total of 6,501 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of Thursday. Among them, 6,109 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 392 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 91,693 by Thursday, including 486 patients still receiving treatment, 14 of whom were in severe condition.

A total of 86,571 patients had been discharged following recovery on the mainland, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.

There were nine suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland on Thursday.

Twenty asymptomatic cases were newly reported, all arriving from outside the mainland. There were a total of 463 asymptomatic cases, of whom 443 were imported, under medical observation on Thursday.

By the end of Thursday, 11,905 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 210 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 53 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 14,389 cases, including 605 deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.
