1 killed, 16 hurt as tornado rips through Heilongjiang

One person was confirmed dead and 16 injured after a tornado hit four towns in Shangzhi city, Heilongjiang province, on Tuesday evening, local government said on Wednesday morning.
All the injured, including one in serious condition, were sent to a local hospital.
The strong gusts of wind also damaged 148 houses and trees, cold storages and farmland.
Rescue teams immediately arrived at the site after the four towns, namely Maoershan, Wujimi, Hedong and Changshou, to help the trapped individuals.
As of Wednesday morning, 243 villagers had been moved to safe places, CCTV news reported.
