A new hop-on hop-off bus tour featuring historical sites of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai started trial operations on Tuesday.

The bus runs a loop specially designed to include places of interest in the Party’s history. It stops at the Monument of May Thirtieth Movement, the memorials of the first, second, and fourth national congress of the CPC, and the East Nanjing Road.

Each bus will have a tour guide onboard, telling the history of particular sites along the route, including the former office of Communist Youth League of China and the former editorial office of New Youth Magazine, which were all important places in the Party’s history.

Seung-ho Kim, Republic of Korea consul general in Shanghai, was among the first travelers taking the tour on Friday.

“The bus tour offer me a good chance to learn the history of the Communist Party of China as a way to celebrate its centenary,” Kim said.

“The great development of China in the past century was achieved by its people under the leadership of the CPC, which was born in the city of Shanghai. I hope more Korean tourists can experience the tour when the pandemic passes,” he said.

Tang Yejun, a conductor at the bus station at the Monument of May Thirtieth Movement, said the bus operates from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at an interval of 1 hour, and an adult ticket costs 20 yuan and is valid for the whole day.

“We expect more passengers as the July 1 is approaching, and might adjust the frequency of the bus after the trial operation,” he said.
