Nanning man tests positive after close contact
A 34-year-old man was confirmed as an asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19 in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the municipal center for disease control and prevention said on Tuesday,
The man, surnamed Ning, had been in close contact with a recently confirmed infected person in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, after arriving in the city on an April 25 flight. He was returning from Rwanda, Africa.
After two weeks of quarantine in a hotel in Guangzhou's Liwan district, Ning took the train home to Nanning's Jinling village on May 11.
Authorities there tested Ning as soon as they were informed that he had been in close contact with the newly confirmed case in Guangzhou. His result came back positive on Tuesday, after which the authorities launched a mass testing effort.
