What they say

Editor's Note: Five model workers, who are also Communist Party of China members, shared stories about their hard work and pursuit of excellence at a news conference organized by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC on Thursday, ahead of International Workers' Day that falls on Saturday.
I've worked in the area for 39 years, growing from an amateur laborer to a skilled senior worker. Since joining the Party in 1995, I've stayed true to my original aspiration, which is to make electricity available to everyone and take on tough missions whenever necessary. I now operate my own workshop at the company to help train more young skilled workers. I think that the young generation can face any problem if they obtain excellent skills.

As a worker and member of the CPC at the grassroots level, I always require myself to be down-to-earth and work hard. We workers stay open to any problem or new technologies we've encountered during our work. I think our persistence in tackling difficulties is key to the success that the aviation industry has achieved in past decades. We never stop in the process of innovation.

The department I've served once had the company's only branch responsible for optimizing the efficiency of stevedoring vessels from Europe. The branch consisted of excellent Party members. I admired them and joined the Party in 2009, becoming one of them. I feel a very strong sense of achievement at my job, where I've met challenges. My colleagues and I once unloaded a vessel that had been in a crash, and we took down 1,735 containers within 48 hours.

During the early stages of reform and opening-up, most molds were imported from overseas. However, due to the efforts of generations of workers and researchers, I can proudly say that our molding industry is a world leader. Take my company as an example; nearly half the molds we've made are exported overseas now, and the workshops have been updated with smart technologies. I joined the Party with an aspiration to contribute to the nation with my skills. Now, I feel very proud of my work, and I believe the molds we make in the future will be better.

Being a deliveryman is not a job that anyone can easily take on. It actually requires skills to deliver parcels accurately and in a timely manner. I still remember the moment I joined the Communist Party in 2011 when I was a junior student at college, and doing so encouraged me to strive to do my best. I will continue to stay true to my original aspiration and deliver every parcel diligently.
