GUIZHOU

Bodies found after mine gas outburst

Eight miners have been found dead and one severely injured following a gas outburst at a coal mine in Guizhou province. Search and rescue efforts concluded by 3:27 pm on Tuesday, and the injured person is receiving treatment. The accident happened at around 8:50 am Friday at the Dongfeng Coal Mine in Jinsha county, Bijie. Forty-nine miners were working at the time, with 40 escaping safely. Two bodies and the injured miner were found later on Friday. The bodies of the remaining six miners were found by Tuesday.

GUANGXI

6 dead, 3 injured in traffic accident

Six people were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Tuesday morning, local authorities said. The accident happened at around 6:55 am when a heavy truck suddenly lost control, ran off the road and crashed into a villager and a van carrying eight people. The injured are receiving treatment in hospital. Drunken driving was ruled out after a preliminary investigation.

Committee to advise on lunar samples

China has set up an expert committee for lunar samples, the China National Space Administration said on Tuesday. It will aim to give full play to the scientific value of lunar samples and standardize their management. The administration said the committee will conduct reviews and consultations related to lunar samples.

360 Search fined 2m yuan for fake ads

Chinese search engine giant 360 Search has been fined 2 million yuan ($305,000) for posting false advertisements, Beijing News reported on Tuesday. The fine was handed down by the Beijing Administration for Market Regulation after an investigation, it said.
