Macao firmly backs national rejuvenation

Macao residents believe no one can stop the national rejuvenation, Zhang Zongzhen, a political advisor, told media before the closing of the fourth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference on Wednesday.
With a fusion of Chinese and Western cultures, Macao, as a port for opening-up, has always kept and highlighted the nature and characteristics of Chinese culture, said Zhang, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, adding that it lays a key foundation for successfully implementing the principle of "one country, two systems" in this area.
"Chinese history is a compulsory course in Macao schools, while the preservation and inheritance of the nation's traditions and culture are the mission and responsibility of the government of the Macao Special Administrative Region," he said. Zhang is also a member of Macao's Executive Council.
According to him, a quarter of Macao children are studying in the mainland.
Firmly upholding the principle of "one country, two systems", he added: "Macao people are proud of the rise of our motherland and confident with our own culture."
