More Beijing departments to move by 2024
The second group of Beijing municipal government departments will move into Tongzhou district, the city's subsidiary administration center, by 2024, a senior official said at a news conference on Monday.
Construction of the first phase of the center will be completed by 2024, said Zhao Lei, head of Tongzhou district.
In 2019, many parts of Beijing's municipal departments and agencies moved into Tongzhou, about a 40-minute drive from the capital's downtown area.
During the 14th Five-Year-Plan period (2021-25), the sub-city center will continue to evolve into the front gate of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integrated development area and will improve all of its functions, Zhao said, adding that the sub-city center will maintain regional GDP growth of 8 percent in coming years.
"The district will focus on the digital industry and accelerate the construction of the national cybersafety industrial park in the coming years," Zhao said.
The district will work to attract financial management institutions and agencies to set up headquarters in Tongzhou.
