Beijing subcenter sees growing green area

BEIJING - The green area of the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, Beijing's subcenter located in Tongzhou District, has increased over the past five years, the latest figures show.
The subcenter carried out 102 key greening projects, adding more than 16,733 hectares of green area during the period, according to statistics released by the Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau.
The subcenter currently has more than 30 parks of various types, eight suburban parks and forest wetlands each with an area of more than 666 hectares, and 32 forests each with an area of more than 66.6 hectares.
This year, the subcenter plans to add 800 hectares of new forestation area.
