Shanghai reports one new COVID-19 case
A new local COVID-19 case, who was discovered to have had close contact with a previous confirmed case, was reported on Thursday in Shanghai, according to the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission.
The 34 close contacts of the confirmed case have been traced by 8 am and are currently under centralized quarantine. Places visited by the confirmed case have also been disinfected.
The Xingaoyuan phase one community in Pudong New Area, where the confirmed case lives, has been listed as the medium-risk region, said Wu Jinglei, director of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission.
Wu added that the Salvo Hotel Shanghai will be removed from the list of medium-risk regions as of 6 pm Friday.
A total of 22 cases have been reported in the municipality since Jan 21.
