Strengthen exchanges, says senior official
A senior official of the Communist Party of China called on Monday for efforts to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the CPC and political parties from around the world and expand the global partnership network of political parties to serve major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while addressing a meeting in Beijing in celebration of the centenary of the Party's diplomatic work as well as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
He reviewed the Party's extraordinary work in dealing with external relations since the CPC was founded on July 1, 1921, and particularly the historic achievements made since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, when Xi Jinping became general secretary of the CPC Central Committee
Wang said that Xi's propositions about inter-party diplomacy since then are fundamental guidelines for the Party to deal with external relations in the new era, and must be carried out earnestly.
Wang also called for efforts to advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
