New organization brings together children organ transplant experts
A national academic organization dedicated to organ transplantation for children was established during the annual congress of the Chinese Society of Organ Transplantation in Shanghai on Sunday.
The group of organ transplantation for children affiliated to the Chinese Society of Organ Transplantation under the Chinese Medical Association has attracted top-notch experts in this field from around the country.
The organization aims to become a world-class academic communication platform for experts specializing in the transplantation of organs in children and promote the development of this field.
Xia Qiang, Party secretary of Renji Hospital Affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and director of the liver surgery department of the hospital, was elected as the first director of the group.
Renji Hospital has performed the most number of liver transplants for children in the world.
Medical experts in organ transplantation from around the country gathered in Shanghai for the annual congress on the weekend, discussing cutting-edge technologies in the field.
The congress was hosted by the Chinese Medical Association and the Chinese Society of Organ Transplantation affiliated with the association, and was undertaken by Zhongshan Hospital, Renji Hospital and Changzheng Hospital, all of which are based in Shanghai.
