Trial for former teacher accused of killing 7 begins in Jiangxi
Lao Rongzhi, who is suspected of killing seven people, went on trial on Monday at the Nanchang Intermediate People's Court in Jiangxi province.
Lao was charged with intentional homicide, kidnapping and robbery.
Born in 1974, Lao used to be a primary school teacher in Jiujiang, Jiangxi. She is suspected of killing seven people between 1996 and 1999 with her ex-boyfriend, Fa Ziying.
Lao escaped from a rented house in Hefei, Anhui province, in 1999 when Fa was seized there. Fa received the death penalty and was executed that year.
Lao had been on the run for two decades before she was captured in a shopping mall in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Nov 28 last year after using a fake ID.
The Nanchang People's Procuratorate initiated prosecutorial proceedings against her in September.
