Beijing Winter Olympic Games' competition zone to hold 13 events
BEIJING -- Beijing's Yanqing District will hold 13 winter sports events during this winter, focusing on tourism, culture, competition and training, authorities said on Thursday.
These events include competitions both for professionals and the public, aiming to attract different groups of ice-snow sports lovers.
Yanqing will also organize winter activities, such as Alpine hiking and ice fishing. Besides, skiing skill training will be carried out to cultivate more professional talents.
"With the integration of ice and snow activities with ecological tourism and health culture, more people can participate in ice and snow sports, which can create a good atmosphere for the upcoming Winter Olympics," said Ma Zhiyong, deputy director of the Yanqing District Sports Bureau.
Located in northern Beijing, the Yanqing competition zones will host Alpine skiing, bobsleigh and luge competitions during the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
