Tianjin reports 1 new local COVID-19 case
Tianjin reported a new local confirmed case and an asymptomatic case of COVID-19 on Tuesday night, according to the city's disease control and prevention center.
The confirmed case is a 40-year-old male stevedore at a logistics park in Binhai New Area.
The asymptomatic case is a 37-year-old male stevedore at the same logistics park.
Both of them are the workmates and roommates of an asymptomatic case of COVID-19 reported on Nov 10.
They were put under quarantine starting from Nov 10 as close contacts and both tested negative for coronavirus during the first round of nucleic acid testing on Nov 10.
During a coronavirus test conducted on Tuesday, they were found to have tested positive for coronavirus.
Then they were transported to Haihe Hospital by an ambulance.
The 40-year-old patient was diagnosed as a confirmed case and the 37-year-old male patient was diagnosed an asymptomatic case as after expert consultation.
The center said the two new cases had come into contact with virus-tainted frozen food products. Further tests and reviews are ongoing.
A 38-year-old storage worker was confirmed as the first local COVID-19 case related to a batch of coronavirus-contaminated imported food on Nov 8.
He loaded a batch of imported frozen food products at the company in Binhai New Area on Nov 4, the outer packaging of which tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday in Dezhou, Shandong province.
