Sichuan provincial government approved the elimination of seven counties from the poverty list on Tuesday, which means all 88 once poverty-stricken counties in the province have bid farewell to poverty, local authorities said.

In recent years, Southwest China's Sichuan has redoubled its efforts to eliminate poverty. The seven counties are Puge, Butuo, Jinyang, Zhaojue, Xide, Yuexi and Meigu in Sichuan's Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture.
