Deputy energy chief under investigation
Liu Baohua, deputy head of the National Energy Administration, is being investigated for suspected serious violations of Party disciplinary rules and laws, the top anti-graft agencies said on Saturday. Liu is being investigated by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission. Liu, 57, was born in Ningjin, Hebei province. He has worked in various departments in the energy field since 1984 and assumed his current position in August 2017.

Breeder killed by bears at wildlife park
Shanghai Wild Animal Park said a worker died after being attacked by bears on Saturday in its wild animal area, where visitors must remain inside vehicles. The animal breeder was there to do his job, according to a notice on the zoo's website dated Sunday. The wild animal area was closed after the incident, and the zoo did not say when it would reopen. The zoo also said in the notice that it lamented the death of the animal breeder and apologized to visitors.
