Mainland spokesperson confirms crackdown on Taiwan authorities' espionage activities
BEIJING -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson Wednesday said that according to relevant department, national security organs have recently launched a special operation cracking down on infiltration and sabotage by Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party authority and its intelligence agencies targeting the mainland.
Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks when answering a reporter's question on media reports on several Taiwan-related espionage cases.
The DPP authority has been recently trying hard to seek foreign support and collude with external anti-China forces in its push for "Taiwan independence" secessionist activities, said Zhu, adding that such activities have undermined peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits, and national sovereignty, security and development interests.
Zhu urged relevant parties in Taiwan to follow the historical trend of a stronger China, national rejuvenation and reunification, and stop doing things that undermine the overall interests of the Chinese nation.
